When you major in Communication at Vanguard, you choose a concentration in Communication Studies or Cinema/Digital Media.
The Cinema/Digital Media Program has gone through some exciting changes in the past year at Vanguard University. With a major curriculum update and thousands of dollars of equipment added to the brand new state-of-the-art Vanguard Studios, students are put at the forefront of technology to be highly competitive in the job market.
Vanguard Studios is a place where students can learn how a production company works, above and below the line. They learn to work with industry standard equipment and facilities. They learn to work with other members of a team and bring out the best in each other, despite the kinks along the way. But most importantly, they learn the morals and ethics that will hold them throughout their career in a trying field.
This fall, Vanguard has upgraded to High Definition, with two Panasonic HD cameras and 2 fiber channel RAID editing suites equipped to edit High Definition video at its full resolution. Also this fall, a generous donor gave Vanguard the means to build a Photography darkroom and another alumni gave all the equipment needed to utilize the space properly. A special partnership with ProPhoto has allowed the students access to incredible color enlargers.
Last fall, donations to the university made it possible to build a state-of-the-art Pro Tools studio for our new Film Scoring class, Recording Studio in Production class, and Audio Techniques class. Several different music groups from jazz to alternative have booked the space amazed at its "fantastic sound." Thanks to the continued support of donors and an incredibly dedicated faculty, Vanguard Cinema/Digital Media students continue to make their mark in the industry.
