Pre-Orientation Day for New Students


What is Pre-Orientation Day?  It's a day for new students to come to VU and have the opportunity to meet other new students, meet current students, get information about dorms, roommates, bills, financial aid, and academic registration.

Who is invited?  All confirmed new students and parents

When? Friday, July 31 from 1:00pm-8:30pm

Where? Starts at VU and ends at a local beach

What to expect:

  • 1:00-1:30 -- Check-in
  • 1:30-1:45 -- Orientation
     
  • 2:00-5:00 -- Student and Parent Sessions and Tours of campus (and dorm rooms) 
    • Student Panel Session
    • Meet your RD (Residence Director) and get roommate information
    • Parent Sessions
    • Academic Registration Session
    • Financial Registration Session
    • Take ID card picture and get mailbox assignment
    • How to Get Involved on Campus Session
    • Financial Aid Session
  • 5:00-8:30 -- New Student Bonfire at a local beach.  Buses will take all students to and from the beach.
    Parents who attend are encouraged to enjoy the local area and eat at one of the many local restaurants in the area while the students go to the beach.

What to bring:

  • Items for the beach: towel or blanket, beach games/toys (football, frisbee, etc), sweatshirt (just in case it gets chilly at the beach)
  • Event Waiver - every student must fill out this waiver form.  If you are under 18 years of age, your parent or guardian must sign the waiver.  Please bring this with you to the Pre-Orientation Day.
